Prominent Nigerians including the Lagos State Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola, former judge of International Court of Justice, Prince Bola Ajibola among others have hailed the emergence of Mentor magazine which debuted in Lagos last week. Fashola who was represented by the Senator representing Lagos East senatorial District, Senator Gbenga Ashafa said the magazine has succeeded to provide leadership lacuna that is currently missing in the country.“If you look at the first edition of the magazine being launched here today, you will find it a delight as it has on its front page, the picture of our great leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu. Asiwaju is someone who has dedicated his lifetime to the upliftment of the down trodden, so if we are looking for a true Nigerian mentor, I think Asiwaju fits into that,” He said. The Governor noted that it is not the younger generation of Nigerians that needs the magazine but also the adults. According to him, that is the only way performances at private and public services can improve tremendously.
Speaking in the same vein, the former judge of International Court of Justice, Prince Bola Ajibola said the advent of Mentor magazine is at the right time because the publisher has strive to provide today’s youth with distinguished mentors they can exemplify.
“Mentor Magazine is coming at the right time. If you look at the magazine, you will find the picture of our great leader, Chief Obafemi Awolowo there, you will find the picture of Nelson Mandela and Martins Luther King Jnr among others. For me, these are exemplary personalities the youth can chose as their mentors. So, a magazine of this nature will no doubt help our society in choosing and aligning with right leaders,” Ajibola said.
In his remark, the magazine’s publisher, Olujimi Soetan said the magazine will be published bi-monthly and will be on the newsstands in Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt for the start.
He also noted that Mentor will be projecting true achievers in all fields of human endeavours “Mentor will feature stories of notable achievements of individual mentors, pathfinders, role models and change agents in our society and indeed beyond the purpose of projecting a positive trend of influence through their inspiring lives and efforts,” he said.
